Nara (奈良) is the capital of Nara Prefecture in the Kansai area of Japan. The city resides in the northern resides in of this Prefecture, directly touching Kyoto Prefecture,
not more than an hour from Osaka and Kyoto.
Japan's earliest permanent capital was founded in the 710 at Heijo, the historical city today named as Nara. As the significant influence and diplomatic ambitions of
the Heijo city's dominant Buddhist monasteries developed into a critical danger to the regime, the capital was relocated to Nagaoka in early 784.
It therefore remains full of ancient treasures, including many of beautiful Japan's oldest Buddhist shrines. Eight shrines, holy places and historic ruins in Nara,
particularly Todai Ji, Kofuku Ji, Saidai Ji, colorful Kasuga Shrine, Yakushi Ji, Gango Ji, Toshodai Ji and Heijo Palace Ruins, in collaboration with Kasugayama
Primeval Forest, together shape 'Historic architectural Monuments of Ancient Nara', a famous UNESCO World cultural Heritage Place.
According to the famous history of Kasuga Shrine, a legendary spirit Takemikazuchi came to Nara on a white deer to protect the recently constructed capital of Heijo kyo.
Since that moment the deer were considered as heavenly animal to defend the city and the state.
Meek deer wander through the historic town, and above all in Nara Park. These deer might perhaps be regarded as 'tame' if the tourist does not currently have
any typical 'Deer Biscuits' when they look at them. Snack sellers usually offer small cookies to park visitors, so they can take pleasure in feeding the occasional deer.
Some of these deer have already learned to bow in response to visitors' bows. They push, bump, and even playfully bite for such biscuits.
The strategic importance of Nara is both in its significance to the history of the earliest strengthening of the Japanese nation, and the acts of the Japanese Diet
to care for the intellectual historic resources in certain preference to the quick building of a bypass for the use of present day public.
Developing matters however are with us constantly, and will forever probably be with us, and it really is choices such as that made up by the
Japanese nation that maintain to offer support for the globe's civilizing historic resources.
In 2010, Nara will celebrate its 1300th anniversary, and in especial honor, Nara Prefecture plans a renovation of the very old Mountain Plum Palace.
